Komatsu CD110R Rubber Tracks
Read This Before Your “Great Deal” Turns Into a $50K+ Yard Ornament
The Call That Sparked This Post
A customer had just scored a “deal” on a Komatsu CD110R dumper…with a split track. He knew the undercarriage needed attention, but not much else. When he mentioned the model, we had that familiar “uh-oh” feeling.
Why? Because we’ve taken calls like this before. Buyers win an auction on a CD110R thinking they’ll sort out the tracks later—only to discover they can’t get the track size they need, or the lead time is 6–8 months and the price is eye-watering. Meanwhile, a $50k+ machine sits and sinks into the yard.
This time, luck was on his side: his machine used the 800×150×67 track—the common size—and he only needed one replacement. Even then, inventory was so tight there was literally one available in the entire country that day. We secured it and got him rolling again.

Why the Komatsu CD110R Is Tricky
The CD110R appears simple on the surface: two rubber tracks on a crawler carrier. The catch is the lug count. There are two CD110R track formats in the wild:
- 800×150×67 — Most common (still limited supply at times)
- 800×150×74 — Rare, scarcely stocked, long lead times and high costs
That second size is the budget-killer. We’ve seen more than a few buyers discover post-purchase that they own the 800×150×74 variant…and then spend months hunting for a unicorn.

How to Decode Your Track Size (and Avoid Pain)
Rubber track sizing generally follows this format:
Width (mm) × Pitch (mm) × Links
So 800×150×67 means:
- 800 mm width
- 150 mm pitch (pin-to-pin distance)
- 67 links total
Three ways to confirm:
- Read the sidewall — Many tracks have the size molded into the rubber.
- Measure pitch — Measure center-to-center distance between consecutive drive lugs (do this several times and average).
- Count links — Count the total number of drive lugs/links around the track.
Pro tip: Don’t assume a CD110R uses the common 67-link track. Verify. If it’s 74 links, plan for scarce inventory, higher cost, and long lead times.

Real-World Inventory: Why Timing Matters
Even the “common” 800×150×67 can go scarce. In our customer’s case, there was one replacement available nationwide that day. If he’d had the 74-link variant, he likely would’ve faced months of downtime—or a hugely expensive special order.
Auction + Used-Equipment Checklist (CD110R Edition)
Before you bid or buy:
- Confirm track size from the machine itself: 800×150×67 or 800×150×74.
- Inspect for splits, chunking, and exposed cables on both tracks.
- Check rollers, idlers, and sprockets for wear and oil leaks; worn components can shred new tracks.
- Ask about availability with a supplier (like VIQAN) before you purchase.
- Price the worst-case scenario (pair of tracks + undercarriage parts + downtime).
- Get lead times in writing if you’re cutting it close on a project start.
