Steel Tracks PC50UU Komatsu
Navigating the world of heavy machinery, especially when it comes to those tough-to-find parts for grey market excavators and skid steers, can be a real headache. You know the drill: you score a good deal on a used piece of equipment from Japan or somewhere else in Asia, bring it stateside, and then the real adventure begins when you need parts. Most local dealers won’t touch these machines with a ten-foot pole because they’re either too much of a hassle to deal with or they just flat-out refuse to support anything that wasn’t bought from them new. Always remember, the paint job might say PC50UU but it just might be something else!
Take Your Time To Figure It Out
That’s where I come in. I’ve been down this road more times than I can count, helping folks like you get their machines back up and running. Take Chris from Alabama, for example. He called me up, desperate for steel tracks for his PC50UU after the local dealer gave him the cold shoulder. The chains and bushings on his excavator were in rough shape, flopping around more than they should – kinda like a loose rubber band.
Curve Balls
Here’s the kicker with these grey market machines: their specs can be all over the place. Chris’s excavator needed a specific number of shoes on each side, but what he had didn’t match up with any standard spec sheet. That’s the kind of curveball that can really throw you for a loop, especially if you end up with the wrong parts and no easy way to fix it. Shipping back a heavy, incorrect part? That’s a hefty bill nobody wants to foot. On one side his chain count was 36 and on the other it was 37 but the spec sheet said it should be 38!
But we got it sorted. Figured out the right number of shoes, chain dimension, shipped, and then the install – which is easier than you might think. Just roll out the chains and shoes, drop the excavator right on top, and link up the ends. The pins we’re dealing with are usually less than an inch diameter, so they’re not too tough to hammer through.
