Takeuchi TB1140 Steel Track Conversion Using 20″ Triple Grouser Shoes

We recently completed another successful rubber track conversion to steel tracks on the Takeuchi TB1140.

This excavator had 20″ wide rubber tracks and was converted to steel tracks with 20-inch wide steel triple grouser shoes. The conversion went on smoothly, and on this machine there was no need to change out the existing rubber-track undercarriage.

This is now the third TB1140 conversion we have completed this way.

From Rubber to Steel

For contractors working in harsher ground conditions, steel tracks can be a practical upgrade from rubber. Triple grouser shoes offer a more aggressive steel track setup for applications where rubber tracks may not be the best long-term fit.

In this case, the TB1140 accepted the steel setup without requiring an undercarriage swap. That kept the conversion straightforward, cost effective and got the machine into a steel track configuration without unnecessary extra changes.

Third Successful TB1140 Conversion

What makes this job worth noting is that it was not a one off experiment. This is the third successful TB1140 conversion we have completed using 20″ steel triple grouser shoes on the existing rubber track undercarriage.

That kind of repeat result gives owners and contractors a much better idea of what is possible when they are looking at steel track options for this machine.
